Mexican Fan Palm (Washington Palm, Skyduster)
Washingtonia robusta
Large palm with huge fan-shaped leaves topping a thin grey-barked central trunk.  Native to northern Mexico.  Hardier than the W. filifera, it also grows taller and faster.  Makes a very good potted palm, but it will need to be transplanted at least one a year. Blooms are white and appear on stalks on the leaf base, followed by round glossy fruits.  Hardy to 20F (-12.2C);  height: 100ft.
