A deciduous shrub, native to eastern North America, producing white, pink flushed blooms in spring followed by blue fruits. The fruit is of excellent quality, but smaller than the cultivated varieties. Fall foliage is a bright red. Hardy to -20F (-28.8C); height: 12ft.

Evergreen shrub with green leaves with a silvery underside and bearing red fruits - the true cranberry. Does best on acidic peaty soil resting on a layer of sand over clay. Winter flooding produces cranberry bogs, which keep the plants from being heaved out of the soil by freezing. The crops are then harvested by cranberry scoops. Hardy to -30F (-34.4C); height: 3ft.
