Native European variety with long narrow lacy leaves that very nearly resemble willows and are arranged along the stems. Light and airy in appearance, it is a low spreading shrub with a rounded crown that has a weeping effect. Spring flowers (rather non-descript) produce drupes of bright black berries in the fall which contrast with the yellow fall foliage. Very tolerant of soils and growing conditions, it thrives in most any well drained soil. Good as a hedge or specimen. Hardy to -40F (-40C); height: 15ft. (12ft. spread)
