Tea Tree (Paperbark, Honey Myrtle) Large shrub or small tree with thin creamy white bark that forms paperlike layers. Blooms are white and hang in racemes. They are very tolerant trees, putting up with a wide variety of soils and conditions. The oil of this variety has been used for years to prepare the commercial "Tea oil", which is an excellent antiseptic, diaphoretic and expectorant. It is used topically to treat infections, both bacterial or fungal, and poison ivy as well. Works well as a potted plant.
