Guava (Pineapple Guava)
Native to South America, this pretty shrub or small tree produces 2inch white blooms with red markings and a large central mass of red stamens. Very attractive, it makes an excellent specimen tree in warmer climates and a good greenhouse specimen in cooler ones. The edible fruits are used to make jams, jellies and desserts, and are eaten out of hand. Hardy to 40F (4.4C); height: 12ft.
